A street in the landscape
First year • 2009 • Saint-Etienne School of Architecture
Objective : Thinking of a temporary way of living for outdoor teachers in Saint-Etienne School of Architecture, in an uncultivated space invaded by nature, in the heart of Saint-Etienne city.
« When you do a project for a trail, a barn, a house, a neighborhood, always think of the city.» Luigi SNOZZI
I created this project as a street in the landscape, guided by a wall playing with the surrounding elements : it clings to an existing wall in ruins, open itself to provide a view, supports the earth, and has to be walked along and walked through ... Each entity has been conceived as a piece of city, with lighting effects, its openings, its corners, its waiting and crossing places ... Transition areas (corridors and staircases) makes us see nature and all that it produces. The break spaces (rooms and public areas) makes us see Saint-Etienne's cityscape.
